The European Football Championship EURO 2012 was the biggest sporting event in the history of Poland, also for the host cities. The Capital City of Warsaw decided to celebrate the event with a campaign called “Maźnij mnie” (“Splash me”) and a great family picnic called “Rok do EURO” (“A year to EURO”). We were responsible for all-round organisation of the event.
As part of the “Maźnij mnie” campaign, everyone could choose the colour in which the Średnicowy Bridge would be decorated. The grand finale and the announcement of the voting results took the form of the “Illuminated Bridge” spectacle. Using spectacular lighting effects, the most beautiful Polish steam locomotives entered the Średnicowy Bridge, with the Vistula River and the National Stadium in the background. During the finale, the bridge was illuminated with the colour chosen as part of the “Maźnij mnie” campaign.
A special guest at the picnic was Robert Lewandowski, a member of the Polish national team and a Bayern Munich player. The evening, artistic part commenced with a performance of the Asia Ash Band. The star of the evening was Afromental. The whole event was hosted by Jacek Kurowski, a sports journalist from TVP together with Wujek Samo Zło.
